Elizabeth Njenga is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in finance, strategy, and power projects planning and development within the energy sector. She brings a wealth of expertise in public policy, energy strategy formulation, power generation projects appraisal, financing and development.
She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Strathmore University Business School, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Economics from Moi University. Additionally, she earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from the Maastricht School of Management (Netherlands) and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).
Elizabeth has built her career at KenGen through progressive leadership roles, including serving as Manager for Capital Planning and Strategy (2009–2014), and later as Manager for Capital Planning and Public-Private Partnerships (2014–2021).
Currently, as General Manager, Business Development and Strategy, she is charged with leading the development and execution of KenGen’s corporate strategy. Her responsibilities include steering the company’s power generation capacity expansion initiatives—ranging from project identification and feasibility analysis to procurement of consultants and contractors, overseeing project implementation, and commissioning. She also champions innovation and continuous improvement across business processes, positioning KenGen for sustained growth and operational excellence.
